This is a picture of outside Parliament on Wednesday 27th February 2008 lobbying for a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty (3 hours it took me to get in)

And this is the same place since 2008, campaigning for a referendum on changing our voting system:

So guess which one we will be getting?
A referendum on a new electoral system is to be held next year, the BBC has been told.

  1. I was just reminiscing about the Lisbon rally yesterday. Despite a good turn out it is a shame it has not been repeated.

  2. I agree Daniel, the turn out was great. It's refreshing to see so many others who feel as strongly about as youself.

I've always found it odd that green protesters managed to scale the roof that day unhindered and the security breach wasn't followed up thoroughly. The net result being it dominated the news instead of the mass lobby at a time when the treaty was passing through parliament.

Maybe sometimes I'm just too cynical and it was merely a coincidence.

  3. By the way, TBF, if you fancy a second blog to help you get the message out re EU matters without me waltzing round here and nicking your posts all the time (;-)), you can email me and I'll set up posting permissions for you. If you want, of course.

  4. CS, thank you very much for your kind offer, it's much appreciated and unexpected.

TBH I'm not sure yet how often I will take advantage, but an email will be winging its way onto you very soon.

    Once again thanks
