22 April is out if budget is on 24 March. 29 April is a week before the local elections and there is no way Brown will leave it to the last possible date.
It could, but Brown will want to hog the headlines for as long as possible after the budget. Once he calls the election the media have to give equal air time.
Also, it is too cynical to have the election the day before the GDP figures for Q1 are released. He would be accused of trying to hide something.
It will be 6 May. All other bets are off.

Agree, May 6th was always likely, I'm just trying to cover any possibility that Brown might do something stupid.
ReplyDeleteWhy does 24th March budget rule out 22nd April election, dissolution could be 2 days after the budget?
