The second reading of Carswell's bill failed to happen on Friday and no new date has been named. As a consequence it has now been dropped and will make no further progress.
Absolutely QM. It'll be interesting to see what happens next Parliament if the Tories win and Carswell retains his seat (he's on a small majority of only 920)
I wonder how it will be before he reintroduces it?
TBF, bear in mind that Carswell is standing in a newly created constituency as his old one has been split in two and increased slightly - pedant I know, but he cannot 'retain' his seat, as such.
Anyway your point is well made and so much for 'democracy' amongst our political elite. May be the 'wall and AK47' option is the only one, at the end of the day.
Bugger, there wasn't much hope of it progressing, but it still had the potential to embarrass EUphile MP's

WFW thanks, the changes to Carswell's seat escaped my notice.
ReplyDeleteNo comment about AK-47s, given that I might get elected (unlikely I know) it could be me that you want to put up against the wall ;-)
