Giving Up Blogging?

I confess I completely forgot to acknowledge the passing of the 1st November. Apparently due to changes in the Lisbon Treaty which come into force regarding changes to QMV on November 1st Parliament ends and exit is now impossible.

Thus all eurosceptic blogging is now futile, as are UKIP and eurosceptic comments on internet newspaper and social media sites. We now have to accept that we've lost... November 1st has come and gone and we can no longer leave. We simply didn't exit in time.

It's all over...*

*Unless of course the dastardly German Angela Merkel decides otherwise...

    1. Thank you Mike for your kind wishes, it's much appreciated. But I'm not going anywhere, the post is a dig at those who misread the Lisbon Treaty and thought it was all over on Saturday just passed...

    3. Thank goodness for that! You had me worried there for a moment as I thought you were doing an Autonomous Mind on us, although I notice even he can't quit all together and is guesting on EurReferendum. Anyway keep on keeping on!

  2. To be frank, the passing of this date means nothing at all. Ultimately the power in any country comes from its people; if they decide en masse to do something, then there's really not a great deal anyone or anything can do about it.

If we in Britain decide to leave the EU, we can. We simply stop paying them anything, restrict the borders and obey our own laws instead of theirs. We repeal the enabler Act, and start choosing which rules to keep, which to discard. The EU will at this point start jumping up and down and foaming at the mouth, but short of trade embargoes which hurt them as much as they do us, there ain't much that they can do.

    1. You are right in that the passing of Nov 1st means little, which you would have understood had you followed TBF's links. However you need to understand why we can't just up and leave. I suggest you read the FleXcit document referenced in the right hand column.

  3. It is notable, though not surprising, that the BBC omitted to mention the 1st November change - the loss of all vetos in EU legislation, which is now entirely governed by QMV.

    1. There was no loss of vetoes on the 1st of November, none at all, which is probably why the BBC didn't mention it.
